Accessibility Plan

Our multi-year Accessibility Plan outlines specific actions we are taking to improve opportunities for people with disabilities. At Hakim Optical, we believe in treating all people in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely and effective manner, and we support integration and equal opportunity.

Our goal is to remove and prevent barriers to accessibility and to comply with accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (the “AODA”).

Hakim Optical is committed to providing customers and clients with publicly available emergency information in an accessible format upon request. Employees with disabilities have been provided with individualized emergency response information.  These needs will be reviewed by March 1 on an annual basis.  Hakim Optical will provide training to employees about AODA , as it relates to people with disabilities. Training will be provided in alignment with the employees’ positions and assigned responsibilities.

Hakim Optical has implemented an Accessibility training policy(Internal Memorandum September 2014) that all employees and management understand their roles and responsibilities. Employees have taken the training and there attendance was recorded.  By March 31,2016,  all remaining employees will complete the training.  This training will be integrated into the new hire training process effective June 30, 2016.
