If you have extended vision benefits through work or private insurance, make sure to use all your available coverage before benefits expire at the end of the year.
Eye Exams
Insurance policies vary from company to company, but most allow for a comprehensive eye exam every 24 months. If you’re eligible for an exam, make sure that you make an appointment prior to the start of the New Year.
Eyeglasses/Contacts
Most insurance companies also provide a yearly benefit towards eyeglasses or contact lens purchases. If you don’t use the benefits they’ll expire, as insurance companies don’t allow benefits to roll over to the next year.
To make things easier for our customers, we provide direct billing for a number of insurance companies:

|
With direct billing, we send the invoice for your eyewear products directly to the insurance company—you don’t have to pay upfront.
We are also happy to accept the Ministry of Community and Social Services (ODSP) and First Nations (NIHB) benefits; however, they’re not eligible for direct billing at this time.
If you have vision benefits set to expire at the end of the year, stop by your local Hakim Optical location and let our in-store optician help you pick out a pair of glasses or contact lenses.
If you’re eligible for an eye exam,
you can make an appointment at your nearest Eye Exam Centre.
Hakim Optical is committed to providing our customers with fast and simple solutions to their eyewear needs. Our expert staff, one-hour labs and low prices combine for the complete shopping experience.
