Eye Exams for Kids

Eye Exams For Kids: An uncorrected vision problem can affect your child skill development

The most important thing in every parent’s life is his or her child.   Parents go to extensive lengths to make their children’s lives easier and provide them with every opportunity they may not have had. Be sure that vision health is part of your healthcare plans and book an eye exam for your kids.

You may be under the impression that if there’s a problem with your child’s vision, they would tell you themselves, or you would notice them squinting. Unfortunately, it’s not always that simple. Children can sometimes go through years of undiagnosed vision problems causing problems in school, sports, and even social life. You may have given them every opportunity to succeed, but problems are bound to arise without proper vision.

For example, in school, an inability to see the blackboard can affect their ability to take notes and cause them to fall behind in class. If they sit further back in one class, they may have to squint, putting stress on their eyes and even causing headaches – to add one more distraction.

That’s why it’s so important to get your child’s eyes checked! Check your provincial healthcare plan for details on what they cover.

What Happens During an Eye Exam?

You can expect a complete review of vision history before tests for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, colour perception, depth perception, and focusing ability are performed during an eye exam

If the doctor determines your child needs corrective eyewear, they’ll write up a prescription for glasses and/or contacts.

Don’t gamble with vision.

Book eye exams for kids at your local Hakim Optical Eye Exam Centre and catch any vision issues early.
